Our story

60 years of experience

  • 1963-1964

    Creation of the company and launch of Magirus-Deutz, our first bus and coach brand in Turkey.

  • 1990

    Opening of a new R&D centre and a manufacturing plant of 552,000 sq. m in Sakarya (extended in 2009)

  • 2010

    Development of a range of alternative-fuel vehicles

  • 2011

    Establishment of Otokar Europe SAS in Roissy, France, strengthening our foothold in Europe

  • 2012

    Launch of Doruk (Vectio) Electra, the first electric bus marketed in Turkey

  • 2023

    Opening of our new subsidiary in Italy

Our R&D policy

Investing in more reliable and sustainable vehicles

Our R&D centre is equipped with prototype workshops, spray booths and special equipment to perform tests on the vehicles we build in a timely and efficient manner. We also use state-of-the-art IT systems to design and assess vehicles under development.

Continuous improvement

We strive continuously to improve our environmental, social and ethical performance.

In 2024, Otokar was awarded the Bronze Medal after ranking in the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis, improving its score by 10 points compared to 2020.
